Mixjournal
In short: Mixjournal works offline, has no account and no ads, and sends nothing to us. Your pantry, favourites and shopping list stay on your phone.
Who is responsible
Mixjournal is published by AMANI ASAN SUBWAY LTD, trading as Velvet Ridge Interactive, 251 High Road, Ilford, IG1 1NE, United Kingdom. The director is Asan Abdul Kadir Shahid. For the purposes of the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, we are the controller of any personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at fizz@asansubway.space.
What the app keeps, and where
To do its job, Mixjournal saves a few things in its own private storage on your device:
- the ingredients you tick in My Pantry;
- your favourite drinks and your shopping list;
- your settings, such as ounces or millilitres, serving sizes and the look you picked.
This information never leaves your phone. We cannot see it, and nothing is backed up to our servers, because we don't have any for this app. If your phone's own Android backup is switched on, Google may include app data in that backup under your Google account and Google's terms.
What we don't collect
Mixjournal does not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools. It has no sign-in, and it does not ask for your location, contacts, camera, microphone or files. The app does not send data over the internet to us or to anyone else.
Google Play
You download Mixjournal through Google Play, which Google runs under its own privacy policy. If you have chosen to share usage and diagnostics with Google on your device, Google may pass us anonymous crash and performance reports through the Play Console. These reports don't identify you, and we use them only to fix bugs.
Families and children
Mixjournal is made for everyone, including families. Because the app collects no personal data from anyone, it collects none from children either. Some recipes use a blender, a hob or hot liquids, and the app suggests getting an adult's help with those steps. We recommend that younger cooks follow that advice.
Allergies and kitchen notes
Every recipe in Mixjournal is alcohol-free, and ingredients are named generically rather than by brand. The allergy notes in the app are general reminders, not medical or dietary advice, and they can't know what's in the specific products in your kitchen. Always check the labels of what you use. If someone has a serious allergic reaction, call 999 in the UK or 112 anywhere in Europe straight away.
If you email us
If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you put in the message. We use it only to reply, on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering you. We delete the conversation within 12 months of our last reply, unless we need to keep it longer to meet a legal obligation.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, to restrict or object to its use, and to receive it in a portable form. In practice, the only data we might hold is an email you sent us. Write to us and we'll help. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Removing your data
To clear everything the app has stored, go to Android Settings, then Apps, then Mixjournal, then Storage, and tap Clear data. Uninstalling the app removes it too.
Changes to this policy
If the app changes in a way that affects your privacy, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the new version reaches Google Play.
